Guests say

Guests are charmed by the idyllic location of North Segganwell - Culzean Castle, with its stunning views and proximity to the beach and castle grounds. The recent refurbishments have been appreciated, enhancing the comfort of this cosy cottage. While some guests mentioned minor issues with facilities and maintenance, the overall experience is one of tranquility and enjoyment, particularly for those seeking a picturesque and romantic getaway.

The cottage is generally described as clean and comfortable. There are isolated mentions of a dirty carpet and a dusty fire guard, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule. The majority of guests found the property to be well-kept.

The location is consistently praised as stunning, idyllic, and perfect, with direct beach access and the grounds of Culzean Castle enhancing the experience. The views and peacefulness contribute to a highly rated location.

Guests find the cottage cosy and the bed comfortable, with the recent refurbishments adding to the comfort level. However, there are comments about an uncomfortable mattress and the need for better heating control, which slightly lower the score.

Facilities are well-received post-refurbishment, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as parking problems, lack of outdoor seating, and the need for sharper kitchen knives. The absence of a washing machine and the condition of the steps are noted concerns.

Some guests mention a welcome pack, but find it lacking compared to other properties, suggesting room for improvement in thoughtfulness. It should be noted that while welcome gifts can enhance the experience, they are not guaranteed and may vary.

Dogs absolutely loved it. Just loved opening the door to that view

Also, the sign saying the parking is just for the cottages is not very obvious - twice we had other cars parking in our space. It could do with more obvious signage. The gates are locked at 5pm each day as published, which is not a problem, but your details state that they are locked all day Tuesday and Wednesday - they are not.. The grounds and castle are open 7 days a week.

It’s worth staying here just to see the sunset! You can get onto the beach straight from the cottage. You could, if you wanted, not go out of the grounds for your whole stay, as there are plenty of walks, the cafes serve lovely food, drinks and cakes (and not overly expensive). There is also an ice cream shop on site. A couple of things would make it better - the signs for designated parking could be made clearer (maybe paint ‘private parking’ on the ground of the parking spots). This isn’t a massive problem, as there is parking elsewhere, but it would be nice. Also, people who are passing the cottages do tend to peek in to see what the buildings are. Maybe a sign with ‘these are rented cottages, please be respectful’ or similar may help. We had a couple of problems, which were dealt with quickly, professionally and the staff were very friendly. Very well equipped. All in all, a gorgeous place to stay when visiting Scotland. I would definitely recommend.
