Guests say

Rose Cottage receives high praise for its peaceful and beautiful location, cosy atmosphere, and welcoming touches. Guests appreciate the well-kept gardens, the warmth of the coal fire, and the friendly owners. While some minor suggestions for improvements are noted, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, there was an isolated report of cleanliness not meeting expectations, which suggests room for improvement but does not appear to be a widespread issue.

The location is consistently described as peaceful, beautiful, and central for exploring the Scottish Borders. The dark skies for stargazing and proximity to local attractions are highly valued by guests.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, especially with the coal fire. Some guests mentioned the beds being comfortable, while a few had concerns about heating and the softness of the bed, indicating a generally high level of comfort with some preferences for improvement.

The cottage is well-equipped for a stay, with a kitchen stocked with essentials and a welcoming coal fire. However, guests have suggested the addition of a second lamp, kindling, matches, and a hand towel. The absence of a shower and issues with heating controls are noted. The presence of a bath and ample hot water is appreciated, but the lack of a shower is a drawback for some.

The thoughtful gestures of a welcome bottle of wine, milk, and biscuits are frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests. While these gifts add to the experience, it is important to note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

A lovely peaceful place and surrounding towns easily accessible. We were made very welcome by the family who were only too willing to help with any issues. Which we didn’t have. The dogs also enjoyed their stay with plenty of walks near by.. I’d recommend this cottage to anyone who likes a perfect place for children and dogs. Thanks again to the famuly

Don’t expect “boutique“ facilities and levels of comfort. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The location is good for seeing the Borders and especially walking. The property will be most comfortable out of winter, as the heating relies on a back boiler from the coal fire in the living room. In winter you’d need the fire on all the time. As the coal fire is essential, I think it’s undesirable that coal is not fully included and priced into the chart. You are given a starter pack and then have to request/buy more as you need it.
