The Old Post Office is a spacious and comfortable cottage, highly praised for its excellent location and the quality of its furnishings. Guests appreciate the generous welcome pack, the cosy fires, and the property's suitability for large groups and family gatherings. The local cafe and pub add to the charm, and there's plenty to do in the area.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean, with only a few mentioning the need to hoover on arrival and clean down a bathroom. The presence of cobwebs was noted, but overall, the cleanliness seems satisfactory.
The location is consistently praised for its convenience and charm, with easy access to local attractions, a lovely cafe, and a pub. The village of Ampleforth is described as delightful, enhancing the stay for guests.
The property is described as comfortable, with excellent beds and quality furnishings. However, some guests noted that a few of the double beds were small, and additional seating in the lounge would be beneficial.
The facilities are generally good, with a Rayburn, dishwasher, and washing machine available. However, guests suggested the need for more kitchen equipment for self-catering and better organisation of cooking utensils.
The owner's thoughtfulness is highlighted through the provision of a generous welcome pack and plenty of wood for fires. While this is greatly appreciated, it is noted that such gestures may vary and are not guaranteed.

We loved the location and the village. The local pub was wonderful and we had great pizzas there one night. We also used the shop nearly everyday to get essentials we forgot! We found the cooking equipment hard work and did have to move two tables together in the dining room so we could all sit together. Although the property was beautiful, we did find it dirty on our arrival and had to hoover everywhere and clean down the family bathroom where the sink was very dirty with toothpaste. Once we had cleaned we felt at home and enjoyed our family holiday.

Really worked well for us with children, parents and elderly grandparents - so if you have family members or friends group who benefit from being able to hang out together or do different things in different rooms itâs ideal as there is so much space. Owner is so kind and helpful. We loved it.

The village of Ampleforth is charming and there is plenty to do in the area for young and old - even when the weather isn't perfect! The dishwasher was a real boon, and we also used the washing machine a couple of times for our muddy clothes. The children loved the mezzanine floor for games and jigsaws.
