Red Roof is a quaint and well-equipped cottage in Devon, appreciated for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and proximity to a welcoming pub with good food. The property's charm includes a lovely garden and a log burner, though some guests noted issues with maintenance and the accuracy of the listing regarding bathrooms and seating.
The cottage is consistently described as clean, with spotless bedding and well-kept rooms. However, a mention of musty wardrobes suggests a slight deduction is appropriate.
The location is praised for its quietness and proximity to a pub, but some guests were inconvenienced by the pub's closure and the property's rural setting, which required driving for amenities and dog walks.
Guests found the beds extremely comfortable and the cottage spacious. However, comments about uncomfortable sofas, steep stairs, and a cold atmosphere suggest that comfort could be improved.
The property is well-appointed with quality white goods and a modern TV. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as doors not closing, an insecure garden, and misleading information about the number of bathrooms.
While some guests were pleasantly surprised by the provision of milk and bread, there is insufficient information to determine if such gestures are consistent or to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be provided, and guests should not expect gifts.

) to ensure that the door closes without jamming shut! Also, one of our dogs escaped through the rear garden latch gate, because the latch doesnât work at all and the gate has been put on the wrong way roundâ¦the gate should open inwards towards the garden, not outwards. If this had been installed the correct way round, our dog would have found it very difficult to escape towards the A303 dual carriageway, even if the latch didnât work! It scared the living daylights out of us while we tried to find our dog in the pitch black, thinking the worse that our beloved Ollie had run out onto the A303!
