While some guests mention minor issues, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
The majority of guests found Springwood Cottage to be very clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable and inviting stay. A few isolated comments about a stale smell and bathroom mould suggest room for improvement, but these do not detract significantly from the overall high standards of cleanliness.
The cottage's location is praised for its convenience to local amenities, walks, and attractions in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales. Some guests find the proximity to a busy road a downside, and there are mixed comments about parking, but the scenic surroundings and accessibility to nearby towns are appreciated.
Guests report a high level of comfort at the cottage, with special mentions of comfortable beds and a cosy atmosphere enhanced by the wood burner. A few comments about road noise and a slippery bath suggest some areas could be made more comfortable, but overall, the cottage provides a relaxing environment.
Facilities at Springwood Cottage are generally well-received, with a modern kitchen and bathroom, and ample space for guests and pets. Some guests encountered issues with heating, hot water, and appliance functionality, indicating that while the facilities are good, there is room for maintenance improvements.
The cottage owners demonstrate thoughtfulness through the provision of a clear guide, local recommendations, and occasional welcome gifts such as scones and dog biscuits. However, as these gifts are not consistently mentioned, guests should note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

The cottage did have quite a stale smell when we arrived (I know itâs pet friendly) and it wasnât quite as clean as we have had in previous cottages - it felt like no one had been in it for a while and the tv in the bedroom wasnât connected to the Ariel so didnât work. We also noted there is no extractor in the bathroom and you canât open the window so there was quite a bit of mould around the bath. The cottage just needs a good freshen up.

A short drive away to Holmfirth village and several walks that are suitable for off lead walking with the dogs. The property is as listed, furnishings are modern and the property is clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyone wanting to use the cottage as a base for exploring the Peak District. We are only giving it a 4 star for reasons related to the garden that wonât be relevant to all guests. First we have 2 dogs and we usually like to relax in the garden with them with a few drinks after a day out walking. The garden in this property is very small at the rear of the property with a fence and locked gates either side to the neighbouring properties (I assume this is for access due to the terraced nature of the properties which back onto a high wall). The garden has fake grass and isnât really a place we felt we could relax in. It was really only suitable to let the dogs out for a quick morning business as the neighbourâs rottweiler would growl and snarl at our dogs through the fence. I donât blame the rottweiler, they are only doing a good job of guarding their territory but it was a bit intimidating for my two boxers. If the garden situation isnât a concern for other guests then Iâd definitely recommend the property.

Lots of gorgeous scenery and walking opportunities nearby. The cottage itself has everything you need, even a small outside space should the weather be sufficiently pleasant. Helpful hosts (we had a minor isdue with the alarm following a power cut) and useful information pack. Would stay again.
