Swallows Barn in the Peak District offers a tranquil, rural retreat with a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Guests appreciate the clean, well-equipped property, its proximity to local amenities and attractions, and the unique experience of staying on a working dairy farm. The absence of Wi-Fi is noted as a positive by some, encouraging a break from digital life, though others missed it. The welcoming touches from the owner are fondly mentioned, contributing to a homely feel.
The majority of guests have praised the property for its cleanliness, describing it as spotless and immaculate. There are a few mentions of minor issues, but these do not detract significantly from the overall perception of a well-maintained cottage.
The location is highly regarded for its beautiful setting and proximity to walking trails and local towns. The rural farm setting adds charm, although the presence of farm life is noted. The lack of phone signal is a drawback for some.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with a warm and cosy ambience, especially appreciating the comfortable bed and the presence of a log burner. Some guests, however, mention that the sofa could be more comfortable.
The cottage is well-equipped for self-catering, with a well-received kitchen and two bathrooms. However, some guests suggest improvements in maintenance, such as the shower cubicle and toilet seat fittings, and the lack of Wi-Fi is a noted absence.
The owner's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcome gifts and the owner's attentiveness. It is important to note that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Barbara
Hardly a comfortable country holiday home. It was surrounded by cow manure everywhere , huge heaps of cow manure extremely close to the cottage, in a very isolated area, tiny dark dirty windows you could Hardly see through. Absolutely nothing like the description. No response from Sykes to my many phone calls and messages whatsoever, just took the payment and disappeared. It was supposed to be a peaceful, relaxing holiday break after my cancer treatment, disgusting treatment by Sykes Cottages towards two old age pensioners, they should be ashamed, over £1000.00 pounds in their pockets for Absolutely nothing. Do not use Sykes Cottages. From Barbara Bailey

Cottage very well equipped, clean and comfortable. A treat to have 2 bathrooms in a small cottage ! Certainly recommend and return to again one day. Thank you for leaving us milk and biscuits!

We felt very much at home and the setting was lovely. An ideal location for travelling around the Peak District as centrally located but still peaceful. The owner was helpful and attentive which helped us feel even more at ease. We certainly could have stayed forever and didnât want to come back home!
