On warmer days, step out to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining on the outdoor furniture, raising a glass of your favourite tipple to toast your getaway. To unwind, kick back and relax in the sitting room, complete with two plush sofas, a well-placed electric log burner, and a sleek Smart TV that can cater movie nights with your loved ones. The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park - not to be missed!

NOTE: The hill next to the house is steep and challenging for less abled.

NOTE: The church bells are frequent on weekends in keeping with the beautiful traditional village setting.

    yes the church has a bell and i did not hear them at night and they only rang for the hour so i don't think that was fair comment. The parking is as stated limited in-front of the house. the parking space just 100 yards up the road was with space always. the pub in-front of these space does good food. the cottage had every thing we needed for a wonderful weekend away

    Very clean and with all necessary conveniences. I could not work the hob and the information about recycling and refusal collection days needs updating. We enjoyed the stay very much. Thanks.
