Burlees Nest is a well-received holiday rental in Cockermouth, praised for its cleanliness, quiet location, and well-equipped nature. Guests appreciate the peaceful setting and the proximity to the Lake District's attractions. The lodge is described as cosy, comfortable, and ideal for both short and extended stays. While most reviews are positive, a few guests noted issues with comfort and cleanliness, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The majority of guests found the property to be spotless and well-maintained. However, there was a notable complaint regarding the presence of dog hairs and an unpleasant odour, which suggests room for improvement in cleaning standards for pet-friendly stays.
The location is frequently praised for its tranquillity and convenience for exploring the north west lakes area. The proximity to local amenities and attractions in the Lake District adds to the appeal, although one review mentioned a lack of immediate dog-walking areas.
Guests generally found the lodge to be cosy and comfortable, with a few noting that the beds were comfy and the lodge was warm. However, some guests mentioned that the sofa and mattress were not particularly comfortable, indicating that comfort levels may vary.
The property is consistently described as well-equipped and offering all the necessary facilities for a self-catering trip. There were minor comments about the lack of certain items like a potato masher and suggestions for additional lighting, but overall, the facilities meet guests' needs.
Several guests mentioned appreciating the thoughtful touches such as wine and milk upon arrival, which contributed to a welcoming atmosphere. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

It was extremely well stocked with everyday items. I very much liked how the utensil draw was so very neatly placed. Knife rack was very handy on top of work surface. The kitchen was easy to navigate. Shower & toilet were very clean & how I like it home from home. There are leaflets to look through for takeaway & places of interest. Books to read & dvds to watch. I thought a nice homely touch. The main bedroom was well organised as in storage. There are even usb plugs fitted in sockets! Our only issues were the settees are uncomfortable. Just when you want to wind down in the evening we found them so hard & the decking was very slippy. Other than that great!

Only down side thereâs nowhere for children to play, ie play area and nearest shop is 2.2 miles away(cockermouth).

Whilst in close proximity to other caravans it is situated at the end of a track so has very little disturbance or passing traffic. I would highly recommend this as a destination offering good value
