High Tide House in Craster is highly praised for its comfort, tasteful decoration, and excellent location close to the sea. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, welcoming touches, and suitability for both families and pets. The upside-down layout and proximity to local attractions add to the charm, making it a recommended choice for a Northumberland holiday.
Most guests report High Tide House as very clean and well-presented. However, a few noted instances of dog hair on furniture and kitchen items needing a wash, suggesting occasional lapses in thoroughness.
The property's location is consistently lauded for its proximity to the sea, local amenities, and attractions like Dunstanburgh Castle. Its setting in Craster makes it an ideal base for exploring the Northumberland coast.
Guests find the house comfortable, with special mentions of relaxing bedrooms and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Some minor feedback on bed sizes and sofa comfort slightly tempers the otherwise excellent comfort reviews.
The property is well-equipped with modern amenities and a kitchen that satisfies most needs. Criticisms include the size of the dishwasher and the condition of pans, but these are minor compared to the overall positive feedback.
Visitors frequently mention the thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts and notes, which contribute to the property's charm. While these are appreciated, it's noted that such gestures are a courtesy and may vary.

But it's also perfect for instant access on foot to the magnificent Dunstanburgh Castle and other fine walks in the area, and in the evenings when most of the tourists depart Craster you have the village largely to yourselves. Everything in the property is in good condition, and apart from some tired pans (always the same in every holiday rental - what do people do to them!) doesn't lack for much. It was well cleaned when we arrived, and there were clear instructions and extra info about facilities and places of interest in the area. Our 2 greyhounds (not the most agile dogs) took a little while to get used to the stairs which were a little steeper than at home, but had mastered it by the end of the week. The included baby gates came in very useful to keep them corralled! Overall it's one of the nicest places we've stayed in, and we'll definitely book it again for next year, and keep our fingers crossed that we get similar perfect weather for most of the week. If I could add only one thing to make it better, it would be an electric car charging point!

Itâs in a fabulous location in Craster, just a 2 minute walk to the harbour and Jolly Fisherman pub (who also do takeaway fish & chips too). Itâs around a 30 min walk to Dustanburgh Castle too. The house itself is lovely, with more than enough space for everyone and has most things youâd need for a holiday. There were just a couple of small things though that we noticed when we got to the house. Some of the kitchen utensils were dirty, the baking trays especially - they hadnât been washed from previous guests. Also, there were a couple of chips on some bowls and a glass was cracked in the cupboard too. The BBQ hadnât been cleaned either, with loads of ash at the bottom and tonnes of grease on the grill part - there were also no utensils for it which was a real shame. We were hoping to have a BBQ whilst we were here but this put decided not to in the end. Also, it would be useful to have some hooks on the back of doors, especially in the bathrooms so we have somewhere to hang towels/clothes etc. thereâs nothing in the bedrooms either. Finally, although this doesnât affect your stay and itâs no oneâs fault, if you are a light sleeper and have early risers in your party, be prepared to be woken up from movement upstairs (as itâs an upstairs house). The en-suite bedroom in particular is directly under the kitchen and you can hear everything. Not sure what itâs like in the other bedrooms but we were often woken up very early because of this. Just something to mention. But overall we had a fab time. We probably wouldnât come back only because and upside down house isnât for us (first time weâve stayed in one) but 100% would stay again if it was the usual bedrooms upstairs and living downstairs.

Great location on the edge of Craster. The house was very well equipped especially the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. Instructions and information provided by the owner were comprehensive and very helpful. We hope to return to High Tide House in the future.
