Guests appreciate the welcoming touches from the owner, the proximity to local walks and pubs, and the peaceful setting. While some guests mention issues with comfort and facilities, the charm of the cottage and its surroundings often outweigh these concerns.

The cottage consistently receives high praise for its cleanliness, with numerous guests describing it as spotless and well-maintained.

The location is highly regarded for its beauty and tranquillity, with easy access to walks and local amenities. The peaceful countryside setting is a highlight for many visitors.

Comfort receives mixed reviews. While some guests find the beds and furniture comfortable, others note issues with the seating and sleeping arrangements. The low beams and sloping ceilings are also mentioned as potential discomforts for taller individuals.

About this property

Mickleton 0.5 miles.

A pretty stone and slate-built Grade II listed cottage, situated on the owner's working farm on the edge of the village of Mickleton. Formerly the gardener's cottage, the property has undergone a tasteful and imaginative conversion to provide very comfortable and well-equipped accommodation with character features such as sloping ceilings and timber beams. The cottage is surrounded by spectacular Teesdale countryside and makes a great base for exploring this unspoilt part of the Dales. Note: Garden Cottage adjoins Ref. 558 Westfield Cottage and the properties can be booked together to accommodate a group of up to 9.

Situated in the heart of beautiful Teesdale close to the villages of Romaldkirk and Middleton is the small hamlet of Mickleton. Within Teesdale and just a few miles from the market town of Barnard Castle, this pretty village consists primarily of a cluster of stone houses set along a single street. With a post office, village shop and two pubs, Mickleton has everything a visitor could need. However for more specific amenities, Barnard Castle provides a huge range of shops, restaurants and pubs. Just on the doorstep are The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, providing beautiful walking routes through the local countryside. The River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are also close by.

It’s a lovely clean cosy cottage in a great location. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. You can park right outside the door in a private courtyard only shared by the adjoining cottage. Great walks from the door.
