About this property

This delightful lodge on White Cross Bay Holiday Park is situated on the shores of Lake Windermere between Ambleside and Windermere. 8 Waterside Wood features a large, decked area with an open aspect looking out to a grassy meadow where you can spot deer grazing. This is a delightful spot for a morning coffee, your favourite evening drink or alfresco meals whilst relaxing after the day's activities. Inside this spacious lodge, you can relax in the open-plan living area, which has a kitchen, sitting, and dining area which is a perfect space for friends and family to enjoy meals and each other's company with the patio doors open to bring the outdoors in. As the night rolls in, choose from three well-presented bedrooms, including a king-size with TV and en-suite shower and two twin rooms, both with TVs. In the park, you can wander to the marina and lakeside, enjoy the views of the stunning wonderful Lakeland vista, watch the bird life, or have a picnic and watch the lake activities. Alternatively, enjoy the super leisure facilities in the park such as the swimming pool and playground for younger members or bar and restaurant in the evening, which are just a short stroll from the lodge. Close by in Bowness why not take a cruise on the lake and enjoy a different view of the wonderful scenery or perhaps you may like to try kayaking or hire a rowboat? You also have the Beatrix Potter centre, which will delight younger members of your party when they meet Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-duck. On your doorstep is Ambleside, a bustling centre with water activities, cafés and waterside eateries and shops. A short drive from here will take you to Rydal water surrounded by stunning scenery and you can end your day with a delicious tea at Rydal Hall and wander around the gardens. Grasmere and Wordsworth Museum is a short drive away as are the popular destinations of Coniston and Hawkshead. This area is a walker's paradise with Troutbeck on your doorstep and close by Kentmere, both quieter valleys with glorious fell walking. There is so much to do from this location that whatever your holiday requirements, 8 Waterside Wood is a perfect base for your holiday year-round.

In close proximity to the Kirkstone Pass, the sleepy Lakeland community of Troutbeck can be located between its more well-known neighbours Windermere and Ambleside. The settlement, which is made up of a variety of homes, cottages, and farms, is dispersed along a curvy road that is enclosed by a drystone wall. The majority of these structures are from the 17th century and have characteristics like mullioned windows and large cylindrical chimneys. The northern end also has a 17th-century inn. The thriving towns of Windermere and Ambleside nearby are well-liked by tourists and offer a variety of amenities to suit all preferences. Boat excursions are available on Lake Windermere, including the lakeside ferry to Grizedale Forest Park and the Lakeside Aquarium. Children will love the "World of Beatrix Potter" in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. The "Windermere Steamboat Museum" has an intriguing collection of boats. Troutbeck is in a prime location for seeing everything the area has to offer because it is close to places like Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick, and the Lakeland Mountains.

Tastefully decorated, and stocked with everything that anyone would require on a self catering holiday. The location was perfect for our needs, peaceful and set in beautiful surroundings, which were ideal for walks with our dog. The owners were extremely helpful and hospitable. We will definitely be returning next year, I would highly recommend.

Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and good communication with owner.

  • Mary

The lodge was spacious, well equipped and had quality fittings. The bathroom was spacious and nicely laid out as was the shower room. The U shaped decking always had a spot where the sun could reach (if it was out) and there was lots of seating with padded cushions available. We were happy with the lodge.
