Lovingly restored in 2016, the property retains its old-world charm, character and original proportions. The sitting room provides a homely setting as you look to unwind after a long day, complete with a woodburning stove and plush sofa, whilst the first-floor snug is a quiet spot to watch TV with French and German channels available. You'll also find a DVD, radio and CD player to entertain your guests. The cottage has been beautifully appointed throughout with tasteful decor, waxed pine furniture, and quality carpets to compliment the country ambience. Move into the kitchen, equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and even a washing machine and tumble dryer, so you won’t have to worry about bringing your whole wardrobe! As the night rolls in, four traditionally styled bedrooms await, including two doubles on the ground floor and two singles upstairs. Begin your morning routine in the shower room with an electric shower, before grabbing a coffee and relaxing in the garden, admiring the shrubs, ferns, bulbs and hydrangeas. Lackaroe Cottage is centrally located and an ideal touring base to explore the heritage and landscapes of the Shannon region and beyond. The historic harbour at Garrykennedy is a short journey away where you can dine at the award-winning Larkins restaurant with traditional live music on selected nights during the season, stop for a drink at Ciss Ryan's pub, and wander the picturesque harbour to marvel at Garrykennedy Castle Harbour. Castlelough Forest is also nearby for lovely walks, whilst you'll find the village of Portroe with a convenience store, and the historic town of Nenagh with more attractions and amenities within easy reach. For outdoor adventures along Lough Derg, head to Dromineer and Killaloe for boat tours, coarse fishing, and watersports, and Holy Island (Inis Cealtra) is a must-visit! The city of Limerick with The Hunt Museum filled with ancient treasures is also a short drive away, as well as Bunratty Castle & Folk Park where you can step back in time in a 19th-century village. Further afield you'll find the Medieval Rock of Cashel, Birr Castle Demesne with scenic gardens, and The Burren National Park for stunning sea views and climbing. Garrykennedy is a town and harbour on Lough Derg in Tipperary. The 15th-century Garrykennedy Castle Harbour ruins is a popular site for tourists to store their boats and explore the gorgeous region, which includes a playground, contemporary harbour, and various barbecue spots. Larkins restaurant and Roy Breen Public House are known for their traditional food and live music. Stock up on basics at the Portroe convenience store south of Garrykennedy. Nenagh's castle, heritage centre, cinema, and supermarkets are nearby. Further along Lough Derg's shoreline is Dromineer, where you may visit Aqua Splash waterpark and Dromineer Castle. Killaloe lies further south for further water sports.
