2. Exeter Pride 2017
Bold, extravagant and a true celebration of diversity taking place in the South West this year is Exeter Pride. Returning for its 9th year on Saturday 13th May, this is place to go if you want to show your support for the LGBT community of the UK and have a great time while you’re at it. Thousands of people are expected to take part and the parade will include roller skaters, a samba band. There will also be family friendly activities and and events through out the day.
3. Devon County Show
A day out that encapsulates everything that Devon wants you to know about Devon. What could be better? One of the biggest events in the county calendar, the Devon County Show from 18th – 20th May is a day out for the whole family that lets you experience the very best that Devon has to offer. Be it the livestock, the impeccable local food, the flower displays, the whole host of rural pursuits or the live demonstrations, it can be as much of a non-stop day out, or as much of a relaxing excursion, as you wish it to be.
4. Dart Music Festival
Dartmouth, right upon the banks of the River Dart, plays host to the wonderful Dart Music Festival – a real triumph of music with almost every genre, from folk to classical, pop/rock to acoustic, set to feature in the event. There will be over 100 acts throughout the town, dotted across over 20 charming locations. Taking place over the three days from 12th – 14th May, enjoy the peak of Spring with a little outdoorsy spirit and find your new favourite artist for 2017.
5. Dartmoor Spring Foraging Course
This spring why not learn about wild food. Head to Dartmoor on 5th or 6th May for a three and a half hour foraging course. You will learn how to identify edible plants and flowers. After the walk there will be a chance to discuss and taste what you have found. An added bonus, under twelves are free! This is within reason though, so please do let them know how many you’re planning on bringing in advance. It’s set to be a fun afternoon.
