Snaptrip says

Guests are charmed by the Brewhouse Flat's historical character, modern amenities, and stunning estate surroundings. The property's spaciousness, cleanliness, and comfort are frequently praised. Its location within Culzean Castle's grounds offers enchanting woodland walks, beach access, and breathtaking views, particularly at sunset. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the unique experience of staying in a castle and the tranquility after day visitors leave are highlights.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found the flat to be clean and tidy. However, a few mentioned areas where attention to detail could be improved, such as window exteriors and skirting boards.

The location is consistently lauded for its stunning views, peacefulness, and access to castle grounds and coastal walks. It's described as a special place, particularly in the evenings.

Guests report the flat as cosy and comfortable, with new beds and modern kitchen and bathroom. Some noted the flat was warm and the beds comfortable, though one guest found a bed worn.

Facilities are generally well-received with modern updates to the kitchen and bathroom. However, comments about WiFi connectivity, bathroom space, and a lack of local information suggest room for improvement.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

About this property

Brewhouse Flat is a charming lower ground floor flat, resting within the spectacular National Trust for Scotland's Culzean Castle, near the quaint town of Maybole. This former brewhouse lies in the west wing of the castle and was added to the grounds in 1780, supplying estate workers with their staple drink of beer, later changed to a wine cellar by the 3rd Marquess of Ailsa. Take the twenty-three steps down into your home from home and discover two well presented bedrooms, presented as a double with zip/link function that can be transformed into a twin on request, and a separate twin, both offering eclectic décor, combining traditional and contemporary charm. The bedrooms are served by the bright white bathroom, where you can freshen up before spending the rest of your evening in the living/dining room in front of the television on one of the inviting sofas. Move through into the kitchen and delight at the range of appliances provided, with the dining table providing a lovely space to spend quality time with your loved ones over a home cooked meal. Start your day by stepping outside and soaking up the morning sun from your very own private garden, or roam the grounds to discover 600 acres of woodlands and gardens, along with three miles of scenic coastline. For the perfect escape to Scotland, choose Brewhouse Flat as your unique holiday base.Note: This property can be booked with Refs: 1060510, 1060513, 1060514, 1060515, 1104229, 1104228 and 1104230 together sleeping 31 guests.

A historic town resting on the coast of Scotland, Maybole rests in a wonderful position for exploring South Ayrshire with your loved ones. The town's high street is lined with a range of wonderful shops and tempting eateries, as well as being home to an impressive 19th century town hall and its very own castle. There are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and watersports in the area, with plenty of beaches to take your pick from, while the Galloway Forest Park and market town of Ayr are well-worth exploring too.

Apart from a visit to Alloway, everything we wished was on our doorstep. Having stayed there twice before, we knew the flat and what was provided; anything on our wish list for improvements is so tiny that it does not overshadow the restful and rewarding week there. Thank you NTS and Sykes

The flat was clean, tidy and spacious. The NTS Scotland staff in the castle could not be more helpful. What a lovely spot. If you love the coast, history and the countryside, then you won't find better than this. Well done National Trust Scotland.

It ticked all the boxes and more! We'd never been to Culzean Castle before and were blown away by the views (best in the apartment was from corridor window). Cons: 1. small bathroom with a shower over bath which both worked ok but not brilliantly (why only gave facilities a smile, not super smile) 2. Patchy wifi (could be considered a pro!) Pros: 1. Views, views, views 2. Really comfortable beds and sofas 3. Castle with the enthusiastic guides in all the rooms (we did Lego self tour & then the guided grizzly tour) 4. Staying on a National Trust for Scotland property with a cafe, gift shop, second-hand bookshop, and recycling bins - so easy holiday rubbish sorting!
