About this property

Situated in the historic village of Eastry, within easy reach of the city of Canterbury, this little cottage is adjoined to the owner's house and shares a driveway. Perfect for couples or a small family, Tembo's Rest is a sophisticated retreat, acting as your own little haven to truly get away from it all. There are two access doors where you will enter into a contemporary kitchen, wrapped in grey units, with spotlights in the ceiling and exposed stonework resting above. Off the kitchen is the bathroom with a shower over bath and a heated towel rail. The lounge feels vibrant yet comes as a relaxing bright space with summery seating. The large conservatory continues this essence of vibrancy, and doubles up as the every-day formal dining area; all very modern with flashes of the structure of the original cottage throughout. Upstairs are two good-sized bedrooms; one king-size and one twin, each beautifully presented, with plenty of space and window views. What's more, the cottage also provides a travel cot and highchair, should you be bringing along a little one. Just a short stroll will bring you to the village centre, which has a post office, bakers, Chinese and Fish and chip takeaways, pub and a shop. Eastry is also home to a gorgeous Norman Church and a large park to enjoy. Only a short drive from Sandwich and providing easy access to the rest of the Kent coast or inland to Canterbury, there is much to explore in and around the destination. With its ancient buildings, nature reserves, golf courses, delightful country pubs, cafés and restaurants, the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich is a must to visit. The village is also bordered by small, picturesque villages, such as Ash, Worth and Woodnesborough and within easy reach is the nearby city of Canterbury, boasting the oldest cathedral in England as well as cosmopolitan restaurants and a thriving nightlife. There are also plenty of other English heritage castles in Dover, Deal, Walmer and Richborough for people to enjoy. Take a trip to the Cinque Ports town of Deal with it's own beach and pier for a great day out. Take a boat ride along the River Stour and appreciate the architecture, then browse a selection of high street and independent shops nestled down narrow lanes or on the main street. Tembo’s Rest is a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of Kent.

Eastry is a small village in Kent, around two and a half miles from Sandwich. Eastry is steeped in history as the birthplace of Egbert, King of Kent, although it is now primarily a residential area with a pub, butchers, and convenience shop. The settlement benefits from its proximity to both seaside and countryside attractions, as well as other towns with a diverse range of amenities. Deal, a nearby historical town, has two public castles, two museums, and a weekly market, as well as a variety of cafes and independent stores. Dover, with its distinctive white chalk cliffs and the spectacular Ken Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a little further away.

Our host has a real eye for decoration Our host was very accommodating even when we had broken down putting the light on for us. My only worry was that some people might find the very narrow driveway (we had to turn round to get in due to a van parking opposite) and subsequent difficulty getting out on a slope onto the road ( the mirrors are a great help) might be a problem to some and I think people should be aware. Ps I can drive being an ex driving instructor.

Matt called round from next door to check everything was ok. Everything in the cottage you could need. Excellent location for the coast and castle visits and other places of interest. Would definitely return to Tembos Rest and can highly recommend it.
