The location is frequently praised for its tranquility, beautiful countryside, and central position for visiting local attractions, indicating a very satisfactory location for a holiday stay.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, noting its cozy atmosphere and the availability of a summerhouse for relaxation. However, a few comments about the sleeping area suggest minor room for improvement in comfort.

About this property

This cottage is a delightful little retreat, tucked away beside the owner’s home in the centre of the rural village of Harbottle, Northumberland. Lovingly restored by the owner, the cottage is ideal for couples requiring minimal facilities, looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful rural location. The ground floor is open plan and has seating for three, a drop leaf table, and kitchen facilities to rustle up a basic supper. Stairs from the living area lead up to the bedroom which is on a mezzanine level above, there is a double bed and a z-bed to sleep a third person if required. A door from the mezzanine bedroom leads on to the terraced garden with stunning views across open countryside, a lovely place to sit with a cuppa and relax and above there is also a little summer house which guests are welcome to use on chillier days. A lovely walk from your doorstep will take you to the Drakestone, a massive sandstone block which rests high on a hill above Harbottle, then why not call in to the Star for a pint on the way home. Within easy reach are Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Cragside Hall at Rothbury, the Heritage Coastline and Hadrian’s Wall. Bonny Barn is just the spot for the countryside enthusiast to explore this delightful area.

The delightful village of Harbottle is situated in the Upper Coquet Valley, between the grassy Cheviots and the more rugged Harbottle Hills. Bonny Barn is a small but lovely property with amazing views of the countryside from the well maintained garden. There is a local pub which serves good food a few minutes walk away . We thoroughly enjoyed our time there despite the very changeable weather - there is plenty to do, especially for those who like walking.
